Demos and Desserts! On Saturday evening, May 5th The doors will open at 6:30 pm for desserts and punch. The first demo will begin at 7:30 pm with Kathy Scott demonstrating how to make a sugar crab and lobster. At 9pm, Charmaine "Cakediva™" Jones & Chef Steven Ciccone will be taking the demonstration stage together for the very first time! Long time friends & award winning cake designers are coming together for 1 night only at the Great American Cake Show to create one of the most memorable sugar demonstrations you will ever see. Join them for pastillage gift boxes & truffles for all occasions. Steven and Charmaine will show you everything you ever needed to know about this classical sugar medium so you can thrill your clients with a great keepsake to accompany their beautiful cake. These favor boxes are an innovative and easy way to "upsell" any client order and create a lasting memory that can be a signature when developing a high end clientele. Not to mention who doesn't love chocolate!!!!!! There are some surprises too. You won't be sitting in your seats for long! We can't wait to see you there. Soon she developed a reputation that could no longer be kept secret and Charmaine Jones alter ego The Cakediva™ was born! She was one of the first Afro-centric cake designers in Manhattan. Her work was published in the first edition of Jumping the Broom (1993) and later her flare in the entertainment business made her cakes a staple of celebrations for ABC Daytime TV hits All My Children, General Hospital and One Life to Live. She was also one of the first confectionery artists invited to compete in several of the Food Network's series Challenge. Her work has been seen in all the major bridal magazines in the US. Charmaine still resides in New York City where she continues to be a very influential cake designer as well as a well respected teacher, demonstrator and judge of sugar art. ***Price includes access to view cakes, vendors, live competitions, youth
activities and demonstrations. Persons entering the cake competition do
not have to pay general admission fees (this does not include anyone
helping a contestant set up a display).

Kathy has over 25 years of baking and decorating experience and has completed numerous classes and seminars with teachers from all over the world. She is an internationally known decorator, demonstrator, teacher and sugar art judge in the ICES newsletter. She recently was a bronze place winner in the 2003 Southeastern Olympic Decorating Competition, and has appeared on TLC's Ultimate Cake Off. Kathy just completed her third term on the ICES Board of Directors, where she was President twice and Chairman of the Board five times. Kathy recently became a Certified Master Sugar Artist, a certification from ICES. She is also a Retail Bakery Association Certified Decorator.
Charmaine Jones better known as The Cakediva™ has been thrilling the country with her unique avant guards sugar creations for 2 decades. Charmaine's journey in the arts started as a professional musician. With a song in her heart this mid-western native came to New York City as a high fashion model by day and studio musician by night. All the while she kept her passion for the culinary arts a secret and began making couture cakes for fellow musicians in NYC.
Steven Cicccone is a graduate of the prestigious Culinary Institute of America. His career in baking and pastry arts began as a very young man and while completing his formal culinary education he was mentored by the legendary Betty VanNorstrand. In the past 10 years, his work has won a constellation of awards. Most recently a GOLD medal from the International Association of Chefs. His dynamic style has been embraced by celebrities of film, music and TV like Whitney Houston, Adam Lambert, Gavin DeGraw, Queen Latifah and Rosie O'Donnell. Whether the cake has 24karat gold artwork, sugar reproductions of sheet music, or even elements of the performer's costume, every cake is custom designed to elevate the mood of any special occasion. Today, Steven shares his skills with the next generation of confectionery artists bakers. His willingness to share knowledge has led to numerous television appearances written tutorials for culinary magazines. Still just in his 20’s, Steven currently resides in New York City and continues to travel the country producing spectacular cakes passing on the skills that were so generously given to him.
